From Thailand
Buses depart from the Mukdahan Bus Terminal on a regular basis. Travel time from departure to arrival in Savannakhet is 30 minutes, which includes the time it takes to process through Lao immigration. The cost is 50 baht per person.

Buses depart from the Lao Bảo border and Đồng Hà every other day. Buses from Quảng Trị, and Huế available on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Saturday and Sunday service is only available in Đà Nẵng and Hà Nội.
